What teachers say about teaching Whole Birth Yoga:
I trained with you two summers ago, i have done
classes at a hospital, a yoga center, and a doctor's
office I think that the class format is such a
blessing for the women to find that support, and
we are in such an unsupportive environment here...very
split between "natural" and "completely
medical model" I try to use the format of
the class to overcome that
Blessings, Amy Chavez,
"I had taken prenatal yoga with my first 2 pregnancies. The 2nd was a Whole Birth Yoga Class. It was a completely different experience. It was a powerful place to be as a pregnant mom. As a childbirth educator and doula the Whole Birth Yoga Teacher Training has completely reframed the way I teach classes. It has informed my work as a doula and CBE as no other training."
benefits of participating in prenatal yoga and
support classes taught in the style of Whole Birth
Yoga are profound. The community and support that
blooms within each session, the trust in oneself
and each other, and simply taking time for oneself
amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday work
and life, help to enable and empower women to
look deep inside themselves."
"I started the prenatal yoga class in 2002, soon after receiving training in the Whole Birth Yoga program in Florida. Before my training I knew very little about pregnancy. I have never had children myself, and so I did not even have any personal experience to draw from. After completing the training, I knew that my intuition was right. This was a path I had to follow.
I met amazing women who were already teaching prenatal yoga, working as doulas, (labor support) and training to be midwives. Suddenly I saw a vast community of women working together to empower each other during one of the most significant times of their lives, and I knew that I was meant to be a part of it.
As I returned home full of hope and excitement to begin offering prenatal yoga classes here in Bloomington/Normal, I wondered if others would share my enthusiasm. I had no idea that I would find such support and encouragement from not only expectant mothers, but also many local OBs, and childbirth educators. The prenatal class in fact was so successful that the mothers encouraged me to begin a class for them and their little ones. "
